Crow Island School: Building on a Century of K12 Design

EDsession (60 minutes in classrooms)TRACK 2: Designing for the Human Experience — Wellbeing, inclusion, safety, and human performance

Originally completed in 1940, Crow Island School was conceived from the inside out as a low-profile, human-scaled learning environment in which natural light, flexible space, and direct access to nature in support of progressive educational theory. The newly completed addition continues to embody its foundational educational vision, demonstrating that historic stewardship and forward-looking design are not only compatible but mutually reinforcing, and that placing students at the center of design yields environments that inspire generations.
