Innovation in Action: Transforming Preschool for Today’s Learners

EDsession (60 minutes in classrooms)TRACK 1: Learning Spaces, Reimagined — Evolving physical spaces shaping the future of learning

This interactive session addresses the growing need for evidence-based early learning environments by showcasing districtwide preschool models grounded in real-world implementation and outcome data. Educators and architects will share how collaborative planning, healthy learning environments, and intentional design decisions improved access, supervision, and early learning outcomes. Through facilitated dialogue and peer exchange, participants gain practical strategies for aligning preschool design with instructional priorities, using data to guide decisions, and applying Health, Safety, and Welfare principles in early childhood learning spaces.

Indicate how the topic is applicable to Health, Safety, Welfare (HSW) Design credits.:This session addresses Health, Safety, and Welfare by examining how early learning environments impact child well-being through indoor air quality, acoustics, safe supervision, developmentally appropriate design, and equitable access to quality preschool facilities. Three learning objectives directly connect to physical safety, healthy environments, and child development outcomes supported by evidence-based design.
Learner Engagement:This session uses an interactive session format grounded in adult learning principles. Participants engage through live polling, facilitated Q&A, and table-based reflection prompts at multiple points during the session. Peer-to-peer discussion moments invite attendees to connect panel insights to their local context. Guided reflection questions help participants translate evidence and design strategies into actionable next steps for their own early learning programs.
Learning Objective 1:Analyze how indoor environmental quality, acoustics, and material choices in preschool environments support young learners’ health, safety, and cognitive development.
