Charlotte Uptown Walking Tour/Alternative Learning Environments

Join us for a walking tour of alternative learning environments in Uptown Charlotte. The tour will start and finish at the Charlotte Convention Center with stops at various buildings designed by top national and international architects that are reshaping the core and significance of the City and transforming its identity as a flagship of the new South. The tour will visit environments, that although not typical, support the concept of learning everywhere and various modalities including (time permitting):

  • Mint Museum - Machado Silvetti
  • Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture - Philip Freelon (pictured top, right)
  • Bank of America HQ Lobby Painting/Founders Hall - Cesar Pelli
  • Discovery Place Museum - Science Museum
  • Discovery Place Education Studio at the Bank of America STEM Center for Career Development
  • Future Site of Charlotte's Main Public Library - Snohetta (pictured bottom right)
  • Imaginon - Holzman Moss Bottino Architects
  • UNC Charlotte Center City Building - Kieran Timberlake Project
  • The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art - Mario Botta
